Morais Vineyard is a Portuguese winery in rural Bealeton, Virginia. Couples love their grand 250-guest ballroom and the public wine-tasting room. The winery averages about 80 weddings a year and stays fresh and exciting for new couples by keeping up with the latest trends. The owners are continuously adding new elements to the venue, such as a new bridal suite and a new groom suite.

Despite the venue’s success, rising industry costs and the high expense of venues, however, can still create challenges, says Suzy Nogueira, Morais’s Marketing and Events Manager.

“We have to make sure [couples] can trust us, and they know that it will ultimately be the best day of their life and that it’ll be memorable enough to spend that money on us.”

Morais sits in “middle-of-nowhere Virginia,” Suzy explains, which adds a visibility challenge. Investing in WeddingWire has significantly boosted the venue’s exposure. 

“To have a platform as big as WeddingWire to post us there is how we find couples, and the couples find us, so we think it’s a good investment. Once we get a lead from WeddingWire, we answer immediately. And, usually, nine times out of 10, they’re coming in for a tour.”

I would definitely recommend getting on WeddingWire and The Knot as a small business, as a big business, as anybody in the industry because it’s just the way to get out there. Put your name out there on a different platform; it builds your SEO, and there are just so many benefits to it.
