10 Wedding Trends from The Knot Gala 2019 We Can’t Get Over
ByThis year marked our 10th annual gala at the New York Public Library, where more than 1,000 wedding pros and fashion designers from all over the country gathered together to celebrate. The Knot Gala is one of the biggest industry events, and this year was no different. Jove Meyer of Jove Meyer Events took the lead on designing and planning the event. The theme, “Shine Bright” was all about celebrating inclusivity and authenticity. From the neon rainbow-lit entrance to the interactive food and cocktails and even a surprise drag show, here are a few of the details we can’t stop thinking about and know are here to stay for 2020 accordingly to The Knot and WeddingWire!
1. The Neon Rainbow Grand Entrance
A bright neon sun made entirely out of LED tube lights (DJ Jacob Co) welcomed guests into the the space (and made for a fun Insta-worthy moment).
2. The Custom “Shine Bright” LED Stage Backdrop
A “Shine Bright” custom LED backdrop (NAME GLO) lit up the room from behind the band’s stage.
3. The Jaw-Dropping Fringe Installations
Just beyond the stage and entryway were long hallways decked out with incredible fringe (made entirely out of recycled T-shirts) hanging from the ceiling.
4. The Monochromatic Neon Hallways
Each hallway took on a different bright color, lit with neon light tubes and decorated with hanging floral installations (by Mimosa Floral) to make a bold statement.
5. The Interactive Food Options
No guest had to look far to find a bite! Pinch Food Design waiters walked around with an array of interactive food stations like this clear umbrella with hanging churros.
6. The Innovative Cocktails Stations
For a twist on the typical bar, Pinch Food Design created several fun interactive stations including this pour-over bar.
7. The Bright Neon Portrait Booth
A creative take on the photo booth, guests posed for a portrait (shot by The Wedding Artists Co) in front of a bright yellow and orange neon floral and lucite backdrop.
8. The Surprise Drag Show
Before the night was over, a surprise drag show (Coup New York) had all of the guests cheering, singing and dancing.
9. The VOW Station
As a way of bringing visibility to VOW (a nonprofit dedicated to ending child marriage around the world), guests were encouraged to sign their names on little hearts in support of the effort.
10. The Flowers for The Taking At The End of the Night
Couples getting married are eco-conscious and seeking ways to infuse sustainability into their wedding details. So we partnered with Garbage Goddess NYC to compost all organic materials. Think food and florals. Instead of tossing flowers, all the guests were encouraged to take flowers with them at the end of the night–a fun eco-conscious way for everyone to remember the evening.
A HUGE thank you to all of the smart, creative, passionate wedding pros who pulled off the event!
